It has been SEVENTY YEARS this month since this EXTRAORDINARY young woman left this world a much richer place by having honestly chronicled her short, gorgeous, tragic life while she was here. She only got 15 years — but in that blink of an eye…she changed the world.
I read Anne’s diary when I was eight…and, for me, the earth shifted on its very axis. Inspired, I started my own diary the VERY DAY that I finished hers and count it as the exact date that I officially became a writer. It was from reading the hopeful words of Anne Frank — whose powerful, delightful voice reached forward across time and space, all the way into the heart and head of a little brown girl curled up in a yellow bean bag chair in Fresno, California — that I first realized we ALL have something valuable, incomparable, irreplaceable, and unforgettable to contribute to the EPIC song that is this wonderful life.
All my love and gratitude to the modern, indomitable Miss Anne Frank…who, I fervently believe with all my heart, would have LOVED THIS MEME.
